USA Today is transferring two of its top executives to new jobs.
John Hillkirk, the top editor at the second largest U.S. newspaper, is stepping down to help oversee USA Today's investigative reporting projects. He becomes a senior editor in his new role.
USA Today is conducting a national search for Hillkirk's replacement. Susan Weiss, USA Today's executive editor, will run the newsroom in the interim.
Rudd Davis, who became USA Today's vice president of business development last year, is being shifted to a newly created position. He will be president of USA Today's travel media group.
The changes come as USA Today and other major newspapers try to reverse several years of declining revenue brought on by the weak economy and a shift from print advertising.
