WASHINGTON
The main trade group representing U.S. trucking companies spent $395,825 lobbying the federal government in the second quarter, according to a disclosure report.
That's up from $291,597 the American Trucking Associations spent in the first three months of the year, and down from the $433,226 it spent in the second quarter of 2010.
The ATA lobbied on legislation involving issues such as transportation of hazardous materials, global warming, fuel efficiency and truck driver shortages.
In the April-to-June period, the ATA lobbied Congress, the Department of Transportation, the Office of the White House, the Department of Labor and the Department of Homeland Security, according to the report filed with the House clerk's office.
ATA members include FedEx Corp., United Parcel Service, Inc., Werner Enterprises Inc. and YRC Worldwide Inc.
