FORT WORTH, Texas
American Airlines' parent company, AMR Corp., said in a statement Thursday that former Intuit Inc. CEO Stephen M. Bennett joined the boards of AMR and American Airlines on Tuesday.
Bennett, who led the financial and tax-preparation software company from 2000 until 2007, will serve on AMR's audit committee.
Bennett joined the boards the day before American Airlines announced that it had placed record orders for 460 airplanes from Boeing Co. and Europe's Airbus.
Before running Intuit, Bennett was an executive at General Electric Co.
He also serves on the boards of chip maker Qualcomm Inc. and of Symantec Corp., the maker of Norton anti-virus software.
