Lawyers for a woman who was blamed by a New York City insider trading trial co-defendant for using pillow talk to get inside secrets are pointing the finger at her boss, saying he bullied her during a 20-year affair to make her get illegal secrets for him.
The lawyers wrote in a submission to a Manhattan federal judge Monday that Danielle Chiesi (kee-AY'-see) was manipulated by her boss as he carried on the affair. They're seeking leniency for her.
The boss, Mark Kurland, has been sentenced to over two years in prison after pleading guilty in a hedge fund insider trading probe that resulted in more than two dozen arrests.
Chiesi pleaded guilty in January and said she was deeply ashamed.
Lawyers for Kurland haven't responded to requests for comment.
