Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. has won a two-year, $71.5 million contract to do Internet research and engineering for the U.S. Navy.
The defense contractor said Wednesday the contract can be extended for up to five years, which would give it a total potential value of $189.4 million.
Booz Allen said it will develop and test software, analyze operations and perform systems integration under the contract with the Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific.
The SSC Pacific division is the Navy's principle research and development arm, and the home of its ongoing efforts to increase its cybersecurity, according to Booz Allen Hamilton.
Shares rose 12 cents to $19.13 in afternoon trading.
