An Associated Press calculation shows the CEO of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. received compensation in 2010 worth $18.7 million, 4 percent less than the year before, as the world's largest retailer struggled to reverse a decline in a key revenue figure.
The company said in a filing Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission that 61-year-old CEO Mike Duke received a base salary of about $1.2 million and a performance-based bonus of nearly $3.9 million for the fiscal year that ended Jan. 31.
Most of his pay was in stock awards worth nearly $12.7 million when they were granted. He also received $499,062 in above-market interest on deferred compensation plus other compensation worth $476,567.
The AP's calculation counts salary, bonuses, perks, stock and options awarded to the executive during the year.
