Rhode Island is welcoming a Connecticut-based high-tech battery maker to the Ocean State.
Gov. Lincoln Chafee will join executives from Yardney Technical Products Wednesday in East Greenwich to mark the company's relocation.
Yardney manufactures batteries for the military and the aerospace industry and developed the batteries in the Mars rovers. The company announced in January that it would move from Stonington, Conn., to a renovated 140,000-square-foot facility in East Greenwich.
The move brings 165 jobs to Rhode Island. The Rhode Island Economic Development Corp. offered Yardney more than $500,000 in tax exemptions and guaranteed $5 million in bonds.
The company did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment.
