One of the highlights on Chinese President Hu Jintao's (HOO' jihn-TOW') whirlwind visit to Chicago is a Chinese language and cultural institute that is among the largest of its kind in the U.S.
Mayor Richard Daley says the Confucius Institute in Chicago will show Hu that the U.S. and China both share a commitment to education.
The retiring Chicago mayor has visited China four times over the last six years, including stops at schools. One educator who went on all the trips says one experience in particular was important to Daley because he saw that all the students spoke English proficiently.
Chicago is the Chinese president's only stop outside Washington, D.C., during this trip to the U.S. He's expected to attend a business expo in the suburbs later Friday.
