Summary Box: Sears gives outlooks above views

OUTLOOKS: Sears Holdings Corp. anticipates full-year adjusted earnings of $1.16 to $1.88 per share. For the fourth quarter, the company that runs Kmart and Sears stores predicts earnings of $3.39 to $4.12 per share.

WHAT'S EXPECTED: Analysts surveyed by FactSet expect full-year earnings of 88 cents per share and fourth-quarter earnings of $3.12 per share.

WHY IT MATTERS: The company led by Edward Lampert has struggled for quite some time, disappointed by results at its namesake stores. Kmart has fared a bit better, with the chain reporting a 2.3 percent rise in December revenue at stores open at least a year.
