Poll: Women more optimistic about economy than men

American women appear to be more optimistic about the economy than men.

About 60 percent of the women who responded to a survey conducted for TD Ameritrade said they are feeling optimistic about the economy even if they're still unsure about the outlook. About 50 percent of men agreed with that statement.

TD Ameritrade managing director Nicole Sherrod says it's important for everyone to take steps to achieve their financial goals. That might include having a professional review of an investment portfolio or attending a financial seminar.

Infogroup conducted the phone survey of 1,009 adults in September for Omaha, Neb.-based TD Ameritrade Holding Corp. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points for adults.
