Pearson and Peachpit Press, publishers of educational books, said Tuesday that hundreds of their titles are available for sale in Apple Inc.'s iBookstore, its digital store front for e-books that people can read on an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch.
Pearson, based in New York, is a major publisher of textbooks, as well as instructional guides geared toward different professions such as Web design.
Privately held Peachpit, based in Berkeley, Calif., specializes in technical books. Its catalog, for instance, includes books about digital photography and developing applications, or "apps," for the iPhone.
Shares in Pearson PLC fell 47 cents, or 3.1 percent, to $14.80 during midday trading.
