The North Carolina Justice Center says the state is on pace to set a record with more than 70,000 home foreclosures in 2010.
The advocacy group said Monday its projection is based on an analysis of current foreclosure filings across the state.
As of the end of September, nearly 53,000 foreclosures had been filed. Bill Rowe, the group's advocacy director says North Carolina should surpass last year's record total of 63,000 foreclosures by the end of this month.
Mecklenburg County has the most foreclosures so far, with nearly 8,800. At that pace, the county will see more than 11,000 foreclosures by the end of the year.
Wake, Guilford, Forsyth and Union counties follow Mecklenburg on the list.
