NEW YORK
Activision Blizzard, publisher of such games as "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare," says third-quarter net income more than tripled on strong sales of the game, along with the latest "World of Warcraft" and "StarCraft" titles.
Activision Blizzard Inc. said Thursday it earned $51 million, or 4 cents per share. This is up from $15 million, or 1 cent per share, a year earlier.
Revenue rose 6 percent to $745 million from $703 million.
Adjusted earnings of 12 cents per share handily surpassed Wall Street's estimates of 9 cents.
Revenue adjusted to account for games with online components was $857 million, well above expectations.
Activision is raising its full-year outlook but guidance for the current quarter is below expectations.
