Bob Evans Farms Inc.'s chief financial officer, Tod Spornhauer, has resigned from the restaurant chain to pursue a career in teaching.
The company said Tuesday that Spornhauer will leave his role on Jan. 3. He has been with the company since 1991 and has held a variety of positions, serving as chief financial officer since 2009.
Spornhauer said he's reached a point in his life where he wants to do something different.
"My first career in accounting and finance has been very rewarding and has provided me the opportunity to pursue a second career in teaching where I can give something back, in addition to spending more time with my family," he said.
Bob Evans plans a nationwide search for a new chief financial officer. Until a replacement is found, Richard Green, the company's chief risk and compliance officer, will serve as interim chief financial officer.
Shares of Bob Evans fell 16 cents to $29.10 in afternoon trading.
