MOORESTOWN, N.J.
Lockheed Martin said Thursday that the U.S. Navy has successfully completed qualification trials with the upgraded Aegis combat systems installed on two Navy ships.
The Navy determined that the systems aboard the USS Mobile Bay and USS Philippine Sea are fully operational. The ships have enhanced technical data collection and radar display systems as well as a new interface between the anti-submarine control system and the vertical launch system, Lockheed said.
Lockheed received a $78.6 million contract from the Navy last year to upgrade the Aegis systems.
