Poll: NJ voters don't support AC intervention

A new poll finds voter support for privatizing New Jersey's horse racing tracks, but opposition to having the state oversee a casino and tourism district in Atlantic City.

The Fairleigh Dickinson/PublicMind poll out Thursday finds voters split on a series of proposals regarding New Jersey's casino, racing and entertainment industries.

Fifty-six percent say it's a good idea to privatize racetrack operations.

However, 48 percent say state intervention in Atlantic City is a bad idea; 38 percent support it.

By a large margin, voters oppose state aid to complete the Xanadu entertainment complex in the Meadowlands.

The telephone poll of 801 registered voters was conducted July 27-Aug. 2. It has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
