ORLANDO, Fla.
AirTran Airways said Tuesday it has opened a new $6.9 million control center in Orlando and plans to open a pilot base this fall.
AirTran said the base will employ 100 pilots. With the move, AirTran will have pilots based in Orlando, Atlanta and Milwaukee.
The operations center was paid for with funds from the state of Florida, the city of Orlando and AirTran, a unit of AirTran Holdings Inc.
