OVERSEAS GROWTH: Business software maker SAP AG says growth in the U.S. and emerging markets such as Latin America and Asia helped lift its second-quarter net income by 15 percent.
THE RESULTS: The German company earned $636 million in the April-June period, as revenue increased 12 percent to nearly $3.76 billion. Software-related revenue rose 16 percent.
BROAD RECOVERY: SAP, whose programs help companies do back-office work such as payroll, inventory management and accounting, said it is seeing increased investment from companies of all sizes and from many sectors. Its recent $5.8 billion buyout of U.S. database software maker Sybase also is expected to drive growth.
