GRAND ISLAND, Neb.
There's a settlement in a lawsuit by about 270 current and former Grand Island residents against Cargill over groundwater contamination.
A statement released Wednesday announced the settlement but gave no specifics.
Cargill spokesman David Feider (FY-dur) in Minneapolis and attorney Lemuel Srolovic (SHROH-loh-vihk), who represented the plaintiffs, said Thursday that they couldn't provide details or say when they'll be available.
The Cargill lawsuit is one of two over plumes of contaminants that fouled private wells.
The one against Cargill was dismissed in 2009, when a judge ruled that the prior owner of the property caused the contamination, not Cargill.
The residents appealed to the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which has not ruled.
