Ohio will receive 60,000 vouchers through a partnership with Microsoft Corp. for free online technology training.
With the Friday announcement, Ohio joins a growing list of states to receive the vouchers good for training and certification through Microsoft's Elevate America program, unveiled in February 2009. Already, West Virginia, Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina and others are participating.
Ohio will receive 26,500 vouchers for online training, 26,500 vouchers for online testing, and 6,625 vouchers for more advanced level training, the state said. They will be distributed through the state university system's adult work force centers.
Coursework can be completed at one of the centers, at home, or at another public site with appropriate computer equipment.
