PROVIDENCE, R.I.
State and federal law enforcement agencies are creating a task force to target mortgage fraud.
The partnership involving the U.S. Attorney's office, the Rhode Island attorney general's office and other law enforcement agencies, was announced Tuesday.
Officials say the goals of the task force are to create a training program for prosecutors who handle mortgage fraud cases, get restitution for victims, and keep track of open investigations so that they're not duplicated by other agencies.
The task force held its first meeting on Tuesday.
