NEW YORK
The American Apparel & Footwear Association, a trade group, spent $136,600 on lobbying in the fourth quarter, focusing on legislation involving consumer product safety and other issues, according to a recent disclosure report.
That was in line with the $136,608 in the third quarter of 2009 and down from the $235,825 spent in the fourth quarter of 2008. The trade group also lobbied on legislation involving tarrifs on clothing, product labeling and design piracy, according to the form filed Jan. 19 with the House clerk's office.
During the October through December period, the trade group lobbied Congress, as well as such federal agencies as the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the departments of Agriculture, Treasury, Justice, Transportation, Labor, the Federal Trade Commission and Homeland Security.
