PHILADELPHIA
Comcast Corp., the nation's biggest cable TV and broadband operator, announced two promotions Wednesday within its communications operations.
The company named Colleen Rooney as vice president of internal communications. She had been a senior director. Rooney, 41, has been with the company since 2001.
Sena Fitzmaurice has been named vice president of government communications, where she will lead government affairs communications efforts in Washington. Fitzmaurice, 38, has been with the company since 2006 and was previously a senior director.
Both will continue to report to D'Arcy Rudnay, senior vice president of corporate communications.
Comcast is seeking government approval to acquire a 51 percent stake in NBC Universal from General Electric Co. Comcast already owns some cable TV channels, including E! Entertainment and the Golf Channel. NBC Universal owns the NBC and Telemundo broadcast networks, along with popular cable channels such as CNBC, Bravo and Oxygen and the Universal Pictures movie studio.
