Magazine trade group spent $147,990 on 4Q lobbying

The Magazine Publishers of America spent $147,990 in the fourth quarter of 2009 lobbying the federal government on issues ranging from tobacco ads to reforming Wall Street.

The trade group is based in New York and represents 225 publishers in the U.S. that put out more than 1,000 magazines.

According to a recent Congressional disclosure form, the group lobbied the U.S. Senate, House of Representatives, the Federal Trade Commission and the Food & Drug Administration.

The group addressed issues included advertising provisions in the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, pharmaceutical advertising, online advertising, the Consumer Financial Protection Agency Act and the Wall Street Reform & Consumer Protection Act.
