FRANKFURT
German airport operator Fraport AG says its February group passenger level increased 3 percent to 4.6 million people from a year earlier.
The Frankfurt-based company said Wednesday its main Frankfurt Airport saw a 1.1 percent decline in passengers for the month to 3.3 million passengers. A pilot strike at Germany's biggest airline, Deutsche Lufthansa AG, and severe winter weather led to the decline at Frankfurt.
But increases at the company's other airports, like Antalya, Turkey and Lima, Peru offset the decrease.
Fraport says cargo tonnage at Frankfurt increased more than 30 percent in February, continuing a recent trend.
Shares of Fraport were up about a third of a percent at euro38.25 ($52) in Frankfurt afternoon trading.
