Finnish unions, employers try to end port strike

Dock workers and employers in Finland have reopened talks in a labor dispute that has crippled the country's foreign trade.

The strike began when stevedores on Thursday stopped handling cargo at Finnish ports after labor contract talks broke down following weeks of negotiations.

The government says the strike is costing the highly export dependent country more than euro100 million ($136 million) in lost earnings a day.

National Conciliator Esa Lonka reopened talks on Tuesday with the disputing parties but set no time limit for their outcome.
