Oklahoma AG seeks to block Texas AG from lawsuit

Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson says he will oppose an attempt by the Texas attorney general to intervene in North Texas water district's lawsuit seeking access to Oklahoma water.

Edmondson said Thursday Texas AG Greg Abbott wants a federal court in Oklahoma City to allow that state to file a brief in support of the Tarrant Regional Water District.

The district is seeking access to water from southeast Oklahoma and claims in a lawsuit that Oklahoma water law is unconstitutional.

Edmondson says he opposes the district's "water grab" and will ask the court to block the Texas brief. He said Texas is not a party to this lawsuit and should not be allowed to interfere.
