Advanced Auto Parts, Tetra Tech are big movers

The following stocks were among those that moved substantially or traded heavily Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange:

Advanced Auto Parts Inc., down $1.59 at $38.69

Third-quarter sales at stores open at least one year for the car parts retailer missed Wall Street expectations.

Lee Enterprises Inc., up 11 cents at $3.64

The newspaper publisher said it earned a small profit in the latest quarter, helped by cost cuts and lower prices for newsprint.

The Greenbrier Cos., down 5 cents at $9.70

The railcar manufacturer's profit fell, but analysts had expected a loss as the company deals with a downturn in freight shipping.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc., down $7.56 at $68.35

The company said profit doubled in the fourth quarter and the full year, but first-quarter profit will decline from a year ago.

Tetra Tech Inc., down $1.76 at $25.41

The Pasadena, Calif.-based engineering consulting firm forecast earnings for fiscal 2010 that fell below some Wall Street estimates.

Brooks Automation Inc., up 49 cents at $7.93

The company narrowed its loss in the fiscal fourth quarter and the CEO said it could approach break-even in the current quarter.

Juniper Networks Inc., down 65 cents at $24.70

Hewlett-Packard Co. said it would buy 3Com Corp., leaving Juniper out of a consolidation move in the computer networking gear market.

Activision Blizzard Inc., up 6 cents at $11.44

First-day sales of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" broke records, raking in $310 million in North America and the United Kingdom.
