Shares of some top coal companies are mixed at noon:

Arch Coal fell $.07 or .3 percent, to $23.11.

Consol Energy rose $.40 or .8 percent, to $48.90.

Massey Energy rose $1.00 or 2.8 percent, to $36.15.

Peabody Energy rose $.95 or 2.2 percent, to $44.84.
