Shares of some top utilities companies are mixed at 10 a.m.:

AEP rose $.08 or .3 percent, to $31.80.

ConEd fell $.06 or .1 percent, to $42.40.

Duke Energy fell $.01 or .1 percent, to $16.17.

Pepco Holdings rose $.09 or .5 percent, to $15.81.

Southern Co rose $.07 or .2 percent, to $32.27.
