Shares of some top utilities companies are up at 10 a.m.:

AEP rose $.10 or .3 percent, to $31.02.

ConEd rose $.14 or .3 percent, to $41.69.

Duke Energy rose $.02 or .1 percent, to $16.07.

Pepco Holdings rose $.02 or .1 percent, to $15.37.

Southern Co rose $.07 or .2 percent, to $31.57.
