Biographical details of Ford's new CEO


Ford Motor Co. said Thursday that company veteran Mark Fields will become CEO on July 1, replacing retiring CEO Alan Mulally. Here are some details about Fields.

BORN: Jan. 24, 1961 (Brooklyn, N.Y.)

HOMETOWN: Paramus, N.J.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in economics, Rutgers University, 1983; master of business administration, Harvard Business School, 1989.

CAREER: Sold computers for IBM between college and graduate school. Joined Ford in 1989 as a market research analyst. Managing director, Ford Argentina, 1997; global marketing and sales director, Mazda Motors Corp., 1998-2000; president and managing director, Mazda Motors, 2000-2002; group vice president, Premier Automotive Group, 2002-2004; executive vice president, Ford of Europe and Premier Automotive Group, 2004-2005; executive vice president and president, Ford Americas, 2005-2012; chief operating officer, 2012-president.

FAMILY: Married to Jane Fields. Two college-age sons.
