Obama avoids choosing between France, England

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says France and England are outstanding European partners and, just like his two daughters, he says he'd never choose between the countries either.

He says both France and England are wonderful in their own ways.

Obama says he believes the strength of the alliance between the U.S. and France has deepened over the years in ways that are good for both countries as well as the rest of the world.

Obama commented Tuesday during a White House news conference with French President Francois Hollande (frahn-SWAH' oh-LAWND'), who is in the U.S. on a state visit.
