RI health marketplace signs up 3,762
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island's new health marketplace has signed up more than 3,700 individuals and small businesses for insurance coverage under the federal health care overhaul.
HealthSource RI released new statistics Monday on how many have enrolled since the marketplace launched on Oct. 1. Some have already paid, while some have payments pending.
HealthSource said a total of 9,687 accounts have been created with 3,762 individuals and businesses completing enrollment. The customer service center has gotten 15,469 calls and 1,240 walk-in visits.
The marketplace has not released more detailed information on who is enrolling or which plans are most popular.
Director Christine Ferguson has said previously that early enrollment is higher than she expected.
The rollout in Rhode Island has been relatively smooth. The federal web portal has been plagued by technical problems.
