DC unemployment rate drops slightly in March


WASHINGTON (AP) — The unemployment rate in the District of Columbia is down by one-tenth of a percentage point. New statistics from the Labor Department show the nation's capital gained 2,900 jobs in March.

Unemployment now stands at 8.5 percent in the district, down from 8.6 percent in February. Nationwide, the unemployment rate is 7.6 percent.

In March, the district had 31,900 unemployed residents, a decrease of 300 from February. There are 341,200 employed residents in the city.
