Aflac Inc. rose $.47 or .9 percent, to $51.53.

American International Group rose $.11 or .3 percent, to $37.91.

MBIA fell $.01 or .1 percent, to $11.14.

MGIC Investments Corp. fell $.18 or 3.9 percent, to $4.41.

MetLife rose $.10 or .3 percent, to $38.15.

XL Group PLC rose $.14 or .5 percent, to $30.34.
