Amgen Inc. rose $1.72 or 1.8 percent, to $96.03.

Biogen Idec rose $2.26 or 1.3 percent, to $178.81.

Celgene Corp. rose $.64 or .6 percent, to $112.67.

Gilead Sciences Inc. rose $.86 or 1.9 percent, to $45.40.
