Gannett rose $.49 or 2.4 percent, to $21.00.

New York Times Co. fell $.02 or .2 percent, to $9.59.

News Corp. fell $.15 or .5 percent, to $30.19.

Time Warner Inc. rose $.84 or 1.5 percent, to $56.30.

Viacom Inc. rose $.11 or .2 percent, to $63.02.
