Johnson & Johnson rose $.25 or .3 percent, to $76.95.

Eli Lilly & Co. fell $.12 or .2 percent, to $54.66.

Merck rose $.50 or 1.2 percent, to $43.13.

Pfizer rose $.12 or .4 percent, to $27.51.
