Kroger rose $.23 or .8 percent, to $28.95.

Safeway rose $.23 or 1.0 percent, to $23.89.

Supervalu unchanged at $3.89.

Whole Foods Market Inc. rose $1.48 or 1.8 percent, to $85.44.
