Walt Disney Co. rose $.79 or 1.5 percent, to $55.08.

Gannett rose $.51 or 2.7 percent, to $19.18.

New York Times Co. rose $.01 or .1 percent, to $8.19.

News Corp. fell $.01 or percent, to $28.61.

Time Warner Inc. rose $2.52 or 5.0 percent, to $52.48.

Viacom Inc. fell $.06 or .1 percent, to $61.67.
