Kroger fell $.18 or .6 percent, to $27.53.

Safeway fell $.21 or 1.1 percent, to $19.09.

Supervalu fell $.06 or 1.5 percent, to $3.85.

Whole Foods Market Inc. fell $.54 or .6 percent, to $95.08.
