Gannett rose $.09 or .5 percent, to $19.77.

New York Times Co. fell $.13 or 1.5 percent, to $8.47.

News Corp. fell $.10 or .3 percent, to $27.86.

Time Warner Inc. rose $.22 or .4 percent, to $49.62.

Viacom Inc. rose $.08 or .1 percent, to $60.18.
