NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top telecom companies were mixed at the close of trading:

AT&T Inc. fell $.59 or 1.7 percent, to $34.35.

Sprint Nextel rose $.01 or .2 percent, to $5.97.

Verizon Communications Inc. fell $1.07 or 2.4 percent, to $43.10.
