NORWALK, Conn. (AP) — Online travel seller Priceline.com Inc. on Monday named AOL Chairman and COE Tim Armstrong to its board of directors.

Effectively immediately, Armstrong becomes the ninth director on Priceline's board. He has been chairman and CEO of AOL since 2009. Before that he was in charge of North and Latin American operations for Google Inc.

Priceline shares rose $8.97 to close at $657.38.
