Flir acquires Belgium's Traficon for $46M
WILSONVILLE, Ore. (AP) — In an effort to build its traffic-data business, Flir Systems Inc. said Friday that it is acquiring Belgium's Traficon for about $46 million.
Traficon International NV, which is based in Belgium, supplies cameras, sensors and software for tracking and analyzing traffic patterns on roads and tunnels. Flir's cameras and other products are used by the military and companies for surveillance and other uses. It's buying Traficon as it tries to increase use of its imaging technology for traffic control systems.
The company expects that the deal won't affect earnings per share in 2013, and will add to profit in the years following.
Shares of Flir, which is based in Wilsonville, Ore., fell 12 cents to $22.08 in afternoon trading.
