NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top gold companies were down at the close of trading:

Barrick Gold Corp. fell $.25 or .7 percent, to $34.01.

Gold Fields fell $.03 or .2 percent, to $12.15.

GoldCorp. fell $.44 or 1.2 percent, to $35.59.

Newmont Mining Corp. fell $.44 or 1.0 percent, to $45.03.
