American Express Co. fell $.40 or .7 percent, to $57.13.

Capital One Financial Corp. fell $.76 or 1.3 percent, to $57.79.

Discover Financial Services fell $.17 or .4 percent, to $38.34.

Mastercard fell $8.82 or 1.8 percent, to $486.20.

Visa Inc. fell $1.42 or .9 percent, to $149.76.
