General Electric Co. rose $.23 or 1.1 percent, to $21.05.

Snap-On rose $.26 or .3 percent, to $79.13.

Stanley Works rose $.45 or .6 percent, to $74.40.

Whirlpool Corp. rose $.18 or .2 percent, to $102.33.
