News Summary: GM gives big pickups a makeover

GM PICKUPS: General Motors unveiled new versions of its full-size pickups Thursday. The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra go on sale as early as this spring. It's the trucks' first major revamp since 2007, and should help GM compete with newer trucks from Ford and Chrysler.

WHAT'S NEW: The new trucks have quieter cabs, updated steering, suspension and brakes and a more aggressive look. There are three revamped engines: a 262-horsepower, 4.3-liter V6; a 325-horsepower, 5.3-liter V8; and a 376-horsepower, 6.2-liter V8.

WHAT'S NEXT: GM will release pricing and fuel economy later.
